CryptEscrow, a Miami-based provider that converts cryptocurrency into dollars for property purchases, announced a strategic partnership with Ripple on Oct. 22. The partnership is aimed at high-value real estate deals where the buyer holds wealth in digital assets.
Under the model, CryptEscrow converts the buyer's crypto into US dollars before settlement. Sellers, developers and title companies keep handling conventional funds and never receive or custody the cryptocurrency.
The announcement left out several details. It set out no launch date, supported tokens or blockchains, geographic scope, minimum deal size or commercial terms, and it did not describe Ripple's specific technical role.
The Florida angle
CryptEscrow is based in Miami. The company says it is licensed with the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Florida's Office of Financial Regulation. ZY|Block, which reported the news, has not independently verified those licenses.
The company said on Aug. 10 that a First American Title policy-issuing agent used the service for a $4.2 million residential closing. It disclosed no closing date for that transaction.
On Sept. 10, CryptEscrow reached a comparable arrangement with Kraken, routing large conversions through the exchange's Pro over-the-counter desk.
Ripple's separate property work with Ctrl Alt in Dubai concerns tokenized title deeds on the XRP Ledger. That is a different mechanism from converting crypto into cash at closing.
